Common drawing and quantity schedule abbreviations, with checks for project-specific meanings.
Read the drawing legend first
An abbreviation can mean different things across disciplines. The current sheet legend, specification and detail govern its meaning. Record the sheet and revision before using a symbol in a takeoff.

Keep a project abbreviation register
Record the abbreviation, its definition on that project, drawing reference, trade and clarification status. Flag conflicting legends between architectural, structural, civil and MEP sheets. A general glossary cannot resolve a missing specification or change subcontract responsibilities.
